Hoodia Independent Testing

Recent news reports and the buzz generated by them have caused a supply shortage of Hoodia. Unfortunately, numerous dishonest companies have been selling Hoodia supplements that have little or no Hoodia Gordonii.

Authentic South African Hoodia Gordonii is very rare. It takes approximately 5 - 7 years for the Hoodia to mature and provide appetite suppressant qualities, and there is only a limited amount of it.

The only way to know if the Hoodia you are buying is real is to test it. We have contracted with Alkemist Pharmaceuticals – the industry leader in the US for herbal testing to verify that we only use 100% pure South African Hoodia in every bottle of HoodiLife.

The reports from Alkemist that relate to the Hoodia in your bottle of HoodiLife can be accessed by matching the lot number on your bottle with the corresponding test report on our website. We have new analytical tests performed for every batch of new product that we manufacture to assure quality consistency. The product that you will be receiving was tested and certified to be Pure Hoodia on 10/18/06.

Alkemist has developed a special scientific testing protocol for Hoodia that includes testing in two distinctive ways -- Microscopic Analysis and Chemical Analysis. Below are the Analytical Cert ificates of Authenticity issued by Alkemist for HoodiLife

Government Certification

The South African government has strictly regulated the exportation of Hoodia to the rest of the world. A CITES certification is required to legally export Hoodia Gordonii from South Africa.

CITES is an international agreement between countries. Its mission is to protect and regulate international trade of wild animals and plants. Hoodia Gordonii is one of those plants protected by CITES.

Below is the Official South African CITES Permit for the Hoodia used in HoodiLife:
Certified Pure South African Hoodia

NOTE: YOU SHOULD BE VERY CAUTIOUS OF ANY HOODIA PRODUCTS BEING SOLD THAT ARE NOT ACCOMPANIED BY UP-TO-DATE INDEPENDENT TESTING CERTIFICATES PROVING THEIR AUTHENTICITY!

CITES documents similar to the one above cannot always be relied upon to guarantee the quality of the Hoodia. This includes many of the so-called Hoodia products sold in the large health store chains touting a CITES certification. These documents are issued in South Africa and do not assure the quality or purity of the Hoodia, especially by the time it is bottled and in the market place.

The real Hoodia containing appetite suppressing qualities are grown only in one specific region in South Africa. If the Hoodia is from China, USA or any other part of the world, the product is inferior and ineffective.

Pure 100% South African Hoodia is very expensive -- presently being sold to manufacturers in the range of $115 to $150 per pound.

Any Hoodia products being sold at cheap prices are not the real thing and will not work. Also, products claiming to contain large amounts of Hoodia in each pill are either making false claims or have been dramatically diluted with fillers. The fact is an average person would become sick if they consumed more than 800mgs of real Hoodia at any one time.
